we watched Hotel Rwanda during my geog1 class. grabe. it was so disturbing. i knew na those things were happening but i never imagined it like that.. with everything so visual, grabe natahimik ako. there was this scene where in Paul and his staff member were driving back to the hotel and they were passing by this foggy road near the river. suddenly, the road was bumpy so they stopped the van only to find out that hundreds of bodies were scattered all over the road and they've been running over them.
the movie magnified the racial discrimination that has been going on especially during the part where in the white people abandon the Africans, rescuing only their citizens and leaving everyone else behind. i could just imagine how traumatic that situation was for the kids especially since they were the targets (to wipe out the next generation). there were just so helpless. mejo na-guilty nga ako when one of the reporters said na even if the people are able to watch the footages, they will all say "Oh, that's horrible" pero they will continue on doing their own stuff as if they never witnessed anything. it's really pathetic, isn't it?
i really can't imagine myself living in a situation like that. every move counts. do mo alam pag labas mo sa gate niyo mamatay ka na. scary. but the reality is that they are really happening.
ano kaya kahihinatnan nito...?
