ok. so i haven't really posted about my fist week at upd. ok naman siya, that's what i usually tell everyone. well, true naman.
June 9.
17th anniv nila mama and papa! yes! 17 na sila...Ü anyway, we had this half of 2007 celebration dito sa bahay. ibig sabihin, this includes: my dad's bday, papa's arrival, my bday, graduation blow-out, ea's bday, pagkapasa ko sa UP, going away party and last but not the least...yun nga, anniv nga ng parents ko. so parang 50 people weree here in OUR house. imagine? nagkasya sila dito?? haha. and did i ever mention na mga kabatch ko sa church ay halos guys lahat...? na sobrang enjoy naman. haha. i enjoyed the night. as in sobra. to add to that, i watched happy feet with the kids AGAIN. sobrang kyut talaga ni MUMBLE. haha. "(referring to his tapping feet) I guess they're happy too.."
June 10.
lipat time. we left the house at about 8:30 am and we went straight to diliman. and since it was a sunday, nagchurch nalang kami sa VCF. after that, we went straight to UP Coop because suuuuuuuuuper hungry na kami. as in 2 slices of bread lang ata kinain ko for breakfast? anyway, we ate fast kasi nga hinahabol namin yung dorm orientation which was going to start at 1:30. nahabol naman namin. Mukha namang okay ang magiging life ko sa kalay. after that, we checked in, g-313 nga pala room ko. perfect nga yung site nung room: di masyado mainit, far from the busy cars, faces the garden. well, except na nasa 3rd floor siya. and to think na natapos na ang pagpapahirap ng pagpapakyat sa 3rd floor nung highschool. well, here it goes again..lols.:D
After carrying HUGE bags up to the third floor, we went to SM north to buy the other things na kailangan ko. Grabe, hindi na talaga nabawasan ng people ang SM north. haay.
then it was time. time for them to go home and leave me sa dorm. i really felt alone. in fact, i cried. i cried out of depression. i cried 'cause i was sooo afraid and nervous. i cried out of loneliness. i didn't want them to leave me there. it just made me feel like i was in prison.. as i closed my eyes that night, i imagined myself inside my bedroom...thinking that i was still in lb. still in highschool. still with my family and friends.
June 11.
i woke up with puffy eyes. yes i did. anyway, i was now as official resident of kalai. i texted camille if she already had breakfast, (thank God di pa.Ü) then we went to the Coop to eat. since i didn't know anybody there yet, and i was too depressed to walk around the campus grounds, i cleaned my room nalang which turned about to be super exhausting kasi sooooobrang init! then i noticed na yung arrangement nung stuff ko doon ay same arrangement din ng stuff ko dito sa bahay. ayos diba? good thing na rin na dumating si Ria, roommate ko. i guess sila ng mommy niya ang nagsave sakin from insanity. joke!Ü we also had our first corridor meeting that night. mga basic rules lang and announcements since kulang pa yung mga residents sa 3rd floor. siguro sa sobrang exhaustion, ang sarap ng tulog ko nung gabing yon.
June 12.
YES. first day of classes. So dahil frosh pa kami, merong freshmen welcome assembly and we had to walk all the way to the UP theatre together with the ROTC band which was bte, EMBARASSING. i met two people sa line ko, si jamie (clothing tech) and si hannah (secondary educ). finally we arrived dun sa theatre and guess what, may special treatment para sa mga taga-kalai! as in pinauna kami sa loob kahit na last kami dumating. great diba?Ü by college ang seating arrangements, and halos wala pa akong kakilala. tapos bigla kong narinig yung guy sa likod ko na cmc din college niya. so binalikan ko at tinanong ko kung anong course, film pala. anyway, so tabi nalang kami. Buti nalang may dating classmate si Bryan na taga broadcomm din, si Genelie. thank God! may kasama na ako sa wakas.Ü fun naman yung program. as usual, tinuruan kami ulit ng UP pep squad ng mga cheers and chants. example...

hehe..wala lang. anyway, what surprised us was the protest about the privitization of UP and the increase in the fees paid by the students. as in right after the pep squad, umakyat sila sa stage together with their flags, banners, etc. tapos they asked the students to join the protest. kinuwento ko nga kina mama, and then she told me na part talaga yan ng UP life.
after that, we had our bloc meetings and college orientation once again. as i've told you before, BROADback yung name nung bloc. why? kasi daw, we will bring tidal waves to broadcast communication..naks. haha. anyway, 22 yata kami sa bloc. BROAD ASS yung bloc handlers namin and i think marami silang activities instore for us. marami nga sa blocmates ko kinoconsider na magjoin sa kanila, pero sobrang daming tests daw bago ka makajoin. sayang nga 'cause i've missed two bloc activities: the studio audience thingy and the media tour. kasi naman eh, may klase ako. anyway, sobrang enjoy talaga.Ü
so that's what happened during my first day sa up. btw, eto yung sked ko.
mondays&thursdays: 8:30-10:00 SOCIO 10, 1:00-2:30 KOM 1, 4:00-5:30 KAS 1.
tuesdays&fridays: 8:00-9:00 ECON 11 (lecture), 10:00-11:30 MATH 1, 2:00-3:00 ECON 11 (discussion; tuesdays only).
wednesdays: 10:00-12:00 PE 2 BW-T.
sobrang luwag right? well, intended talaga yon dahil sa simpleng rason na master crammer ako. haha. promise, magbabago na ako dahil alam kong di pwede ang ganyan.
i'm getting used to my new daily routine. nakakatawa kasi lakad ako ng lakad kasi di naman kelangan magjeep. sa math building lang dahil sooooooobrang layo niya. pero in fairness, nag-eenjoy naman ako. sometimes, i get lonely lalo na pag nakikita ko yung mga grupo-grupo kasi in a way, naalala ko barkada ko. eh nakakainis kasi di ako pwede magglobe, so wala akong nacocontact sa kanila masyado, y!m lang.
so far, di pa mabigat ang academic requirements. siguro kasi first two weeks palang. marami pang time para makipagbonding sa new found friends. good thing na rin kasi pinakilala ako kay ate mai-mai. and in a way, may mga matatakbuhan na ako dun.
sabi nga nila, iba daw talaga ang environment don. sa csi kasi, sobrang sheltered at spoonfed. doon, exposed to everything. yung prof ko sa socio 10, si prof gerry lanuza. yeah, he's a very good teacher. as in sobrang maeengage ka sa discussions niya. pero syempre, there are those times na magmumura siya, or give bastos na examples. according to him, he's a "Christian atheist." weird right? sabi niya, he's an athiest because he believes God is dead and that he has left us alone in this earth. which contradicts his other statement where in he defends God. he bad-mouths those philosophers who try to measure God and explain His existence. he says that his God is immeasurable by logic and cannot be explained by reasoning. which is very much true. another thing pa, he says that he doesn't believe in true love among humans. para sa kanya, only God can provide true love, and that is agape; for God loves us no matter what we look like or do unlike sa love natin as humans. there's always an interest when it comes to loving another person.
i'm quite challenged in his class, but i enjoy his discussions. lagi kasi niyang target mga Christians, and well, uh, science. but so what? maybe this is a test of faith? who knows..
so i guess i'll just have to update more about my UP life. anyway, i'm just starting. everyday is a new experience, full of surprises and new things. and i'm also excited to meet new people. hehe.
Will we think about tomorrow like we think about now?
Can we survive it out there? Can we make it somehow?
I guess I thought that this would never end
